WHY LEARN JAPANESE?
🌸 Learn Japanese at your own pace – without stress and with joy 🌸
Studying Japanese not only brings the ability to communicate in a new language, but also opens the way to understanding a different way of thinking, cultural customs, and social rules. Learning a foreign language broadens our horizons, promotes understanding, and increases tolerance towards otherness. In addition, Japanese is a fascinating gateway to one of the richest cultures in the world.
What does studying Japanese involve?
As with any language, the basics are grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic expressions. However, Japanese has one major specificity: its own writing system, which may be a challenge at first, but later turns into a source of joy from discovery.
What is Japanese writing?
Japanese writing consists of three interconnected systems:
- Hiragana – basic syllabic alphabet
- Katakana – syllabic script for writing foreign words
- Kanji – characters taken from Chinese that carry meaning
Together, they create a unique “triathlon” of Japanese writing, which gives the language its characteristic appearance.
Is it possible to learn Japanese without writing?
Yes. It is possible to start only with speaking and listening. However, for a comprehensive understanding of the language, we recommend learning at least the basic syllabic alphabets — hiragana and katakana.
